"Imagine (coz’ that's a designer’s job 👻) you're sitting in a dark movie theatre, scarfing down some popcorn, watching a film that takes your breath away. The lights come up, and you're left wondering, "How did they do that?" That was Interstellar for me. Every time a Nolan film comes on the big screen, I am left feeling stumped. And wistful.
Or maybe you're not a film geek, but a tv-show enthusiast, who swears you could create a superior eighth season of "Game of Thrones" compared to the existing one.
Well, if either of these sound like you, maybe you need to get checked into the Bachelor of Design (B. Des) in Film and Video Communication program. For four years. From screenwriting and storytelling to cinematography, editing and post production, you will be transformed from a movie/tv show buff to its creator.
Having gone through a basic Film course in my Communication Design program, let me tell you. The movies we casually see on a day to day basis — that is just the tip of the iceberg. We also learn that movies are not completely made in the shooting stage, but it's the post-production and editing which does miracles. Not only will your views on the cinema industry drastically change, but you will be left appreciating at how far the industry has truly come.
Allow me to time-travel and present to you a schedule of how your four years would look like if you were too pursue this program:
